How to Play

  • Draw cards to build your score.
  • Actions: You may HIT (Enter), STAND (Shift), or PASS (Space).
  • Busting: Drawing the same card twice results in a BUST, receiving zero points.
  • Multiplayer: Players play to 500 points. Once a player reaches this goal, the game ends and the person with the highest score wins.
  • Bonuses: Receive a bonus for long hands and high cards.
  • Single Player: Play solo and try to get on the leaderboard for highest single hand score and highest card drawn!

About the Game

Flip Infinite is a single or multiplayer card game. The objective is to pull cards (hit) to gain points. The more times you hit, the more points you receive. But beware, pulling the same card twice causes a bust, setting your points to zero.

You can expect low cards to appear a lot more frequently than high cards (1 is the most common, then 2, etc.). As cards get pulled, the probability of seeing that card again decreases, just like a real deck of cards! The deck is "shuffled" every so often which resets all of the probabilities to the initial state.

Since low cards give you a higher risk of busting, they are worth more points than high cards. Although each card gives you points directly, most of your points come from the "draw bonus". The more cards you draw in a single hand, the more points you get from the draw bonus.

We've fine-tuned the probabilities and draw bonus to make the expected value of hitting or standing virtually the same. The only way to get an edge in this game is to keep track of all the cards in your hand or, if you're really good, keep track of all the cards that have been played in your opponents' hands.

There is one final way of earning points and that is through the high card bonus. Since excessively large numbers give the player so few points, we implemented a high card bonus to reward players for drawing numbers like 1,000. At the end of each round, the high card bonus is paid to the player with the highest card on the table. The bonus depends on how big the card is.

Remember, busted hands give the player 0 points.

Ways to Play

We offer 4-player, 2-player, and single-player versions of the game. In multiplayer games, you'll be matched with random people online (you can also play in private rooms with your friends). If we cannot find any players, we'll populate the game with bots. The bots have a pretty basic strategy, so don't worry about getting destroyed by them if you're new to the game.

We offer a daily and all-time leaderboard that keeps track of the most points achieved in a single hand as well as the highest card drawn. To get on the leaderboard, you must be playing single-player.

Notes About Development

We are two graduate students studying mathematics. We found the math involved in creating this game very interesting and hope players do as well. We are new to game development, so we'd greatly appreciate any feedback about either the game engine itself, or the UI. We intend to listen to our players to make our game a better experience.
